Community Preparedness Consulting Services (CPCS) is a family owned and operating as a dba under JS Family Ventures LLC.  Founded in March of 2009, CPCS was created to help meet the planning and operational goals and objectives of the emergency response community. CPCS focus is on community disaster preparedness planning, training and integrated community response systems utilizing an integrated approach to disaster preparedness planning and training. CPCS works extensively to develop strong relationships between professional and volunteer community agencies in order to meet community preparedness needs.  CPCS recognizes that during a variety of emergency events, long-term response may be subject to limited and diminishing resources and the response will rely heavily on local and regional volunteers for support. The CPCS approach is to incorporate community responders into day to day operations of the emergency response system in order to strengthen local relationships and to provide valuable training and experience prior to a community disaster.

Community disaster response can be a very complicated matter and is completely dependent on the location, scope, size, resources and experience of all responders and receivers.  In order to meet the training and planning needs for an integrated community response system, CPCS contracts a variety of subject matter experts to evaluate, identify, and train local resources, build operational disaster and emergency response plans, and assess competencies for local disaster responders.  CPCS also provides expertise in performing hazard vulnerability assessments (HVA) for both facilities and communities. This provides the operational framework for the evaluation, planning and training process to maximize these efforts into a functional and operational plan based on local available resources and not just a checklist.

Providing leadership to CPCS is John Dorling, Executive Director and lead consultant. An emergency preparedness and response professional with over thirty five years experince in emergency and disaster operations, supervision, and program management.  His experince includes EMS operations, supervision, systems development and evaluation, fire service management, emergency and disaster response training, public health, hospital preparedness, and information systems design and management.  John is an accomplished speaker and has presented on a variety of topics including but not limited to  "Hospital Preparedness", "Integrated Community Response Systems", "EMS Information Systems" and "Business Continuity Planning." John also has an extensive history of developing and managing volunteer resources to meet unmet local community needs.  "Volunteers are an extremely valuable asset to a community and truly represents the American spirit of providing service to mankiind."
